The SMA weather station incorporates precision-engineered sensors to maximise solar performance monitoring and system optimisation. Our integrated solution provides comprehensive environmental data for informed decision-making in photovoltaic installations.
Key Sensor Components:
1. Irradiance Sensor (PV Pyranometer)
The high-accuracy irradiance sensor measures solar radiation while serving as a reference cell, delivering critical data for solar applications. Designed as a complete sensor box, it features an internal cell temperature sensor for precise measurements. With five available input ports for additional sensors, it connects seamlessly to the DataManager M via RS485 cable using Modbus RTU protocol.
2. Ambient Temperature Sensor
This essential component monitors air temperature variations that significantly impact PV panel performance. By tracking the differential between ambient and panel temperatures, it provides valuable insights for production analysis and system optimisation.
3. Module Temperature Sensor
Mounted directly on PV panel surfaces, this sensor measures operational temperatures that influence power output characteristics. The collected data helps predict performance curves and identify potential efficiency improvements.
4. Wind Speed Sensor
The system includes robust wind monitoring capabilities, with collected wind speed data transmitted to the SMA DataManager M. This information is crucial for assessing environmental impacts on system performance.
5. Relative Humidity & Ambient Temperature Sensor
This dual-function sensor simultaneously monitors humidity levels and ambient temperature, providing complete environmental profiling for photovoltaic systems.
