Sungrow Weather Station

As an authorised supplier of SEVEN, PAD Technology delivers high-performance weather monitoring solutions for solar power plants, fully compatible with iSolarCloud and leading inverters like Sungrow. Our comprehensive weather station integrates precision sensors—including irradiance, ambient & module temperature, and wind speed sensors—to optimise PV plant performance.

With Sungrow’s industry-leading expertise (founded in 1997, 79+ GW of inverters deployed), their loggers feature RS485 connectivity, ensuring seamless integration with SEVEN’s weather station components. Trust PAD for reliable, data-driven solar monitoring solutions that enhance efficiency and maximize energy output.

The Sungrow weather station integrates high-precision sensors to enhance solar performance monitoring, ensuring accurate data collection and system optimization. By capturing critical environmental parameters, it enables data-driven decision-making for maximum efficiency in solar installations.

Key Sensors & Their Functions:

1. Irradiance Sensor (PV Pyranometer)
This high-accuracy sensor measures solar radiation and doubles as a reference cell, making it essential for PV performance analysis. Designed as a compact sensor box, it features an internal cell temperature sensor and supports up to five additional sensor inputs. Data is transmitted via Modbus RTU over an RS485 cable to the Sungrow datalogger, ensuring seamless integration.

2. Ambient Temperature Sensor
Mounted inside a ventilated solar radiation shield, this sensor tracks temperature fluctuations that impact energy production. The shield’s four aspirated plates allow airflow while blocking radiation, ensuring precise readings unaffected by external heat sources.

3. Module Temperature Sensor
Installed on the back of solar panels, this sensor monitors module temperature—a key factor in calculating the PV plant’s Performance Ratio (PR) and identifying potential efficiency losses.

4. Wind Speed Sensor (Anemometer)
Critical for assessing environmental conditions, this sensor measures wind speed at the solar plant, providing data to optimise system cooling and structural safety.

5. Relative Humidity & Ambient Temperature Sensor
This dual-function transmitter tracks both humidity and ambient temperature, offering insights into weather-related impacts on solar output and equipment longevity.

Together, these sensors deliver a complete environmental profile, enabling real-time adjustments and long-term performance analysis. By integrating irradiance, temperature, wind, and humidity data, the Sungrow weather station ensures solar plants operate at their highest potential while supporting predictive maintenance and efficiency reporting.
